Motivation

Today I had a business lecture series class. A guest speaker from CAT came to share with us how he got to where he is today. During the presentation I could not help but thing about how awesome it was to see someone who followed their dreams. He is currently the vice president of the company in Arizona and there were many things in his life that lead him to where is is now. It was great to see someone who had "made it" in life. Now, everyone has a different definition for what making it really is and that is just fine, but not many people can say that the have "made it" even in their own terms. Self motivation and even motivation developed though seeing others' successes will help me achieve my definition of making it in life.

  1. To most of the world you have already "made it." It is all in the eyes of the beholder. To a homeless man living under an overpass in South Provo, you have made it. To a poor person living in a village in Africa trying to get through the day by finding something to eat and drink. All too often I find myself comparing my circumstances to those with more but forget those that have less. My point in bringing this up is that I too am motivated by those that I feel have "made it" and I am always striving to get to the point where I feel that I have "made it." I just don't want to forget those that are less fortunate than I. Whether I feel I have "made it" or not I need to help those in need. Sorry for the novel. Just a thought.

  2. I think success is determined by how happy and contented you are. Different people value different things so success can never be boiled down to a certain accomplishment. At the same time though, it's great to have a role model to give you an idea of what you want your success to look like :)

  3. Thank you for the reminder about motivation. Sometimes I feel I can lose motivation; however, when I have a vision of what I can accomplish that usually gives me the motivation to press forward and accomplish those things.

  4. A big part of motivation is up to us. Each of us really needs to decide whats going to get us going and doing the things we need to do. In the end we determine who we are and what we're going to accomplish.

  5. It's amazing how some people make it to where they are. It can seem daunting to try and do that ourselves, but if we stay motivated we can do just that! I think that our biggest obstacle can be ourselves, so if we want something we have to just go for it!
